Inspect, export, or reset iCloud synchronization on Mac
Use CloudKit Logs to understand sync activity, export evidence for support, and reserve Reset iCloud for confirmed recovery work.
The Mac CloudKit Logs window is a customer support tool for seeing what BeFit Tracker’s current synchronization session is doing. It can show recent activity, export a text copy for a problem report, and reset cloud synchronization state after a deliberate confirmation.
Before opening the log
- Keep iCloud synchronization enabled and confirm the Mac has network access.
- Write down the exact record that differs, including tracker, date, and which device has the expected value.
- Do not add a duplicate record simply to force synchronization.
Inspect a synchronization attempt
- Open CloudKit Logs from the Mac app’s menu.
- Leave the window open while you reproduce the issue or wait for the next sync attempt.
- Read rows in time order. Severity, operation or stage, direction, status, and item counts help identify whether BeFit Tracker was downloading, reconciling, or uploading.
- Select a row to read its complete message when the table truncates it.
- Compare the timestamps with the change you made on the other device.
A successful row confirms that operation, not that every device already displays every record. Synchronization can require download, merge, upload, acknowledgment, and a final fetch before devices converge.
Export logs for support
- Reproduce the problem while the relevant rows are still visible.
- Choose Export Logs.
- Select a save location for BeFit-CloudKit-Logs.txt.
- Review the file before attaching it to a report, then describe the affected tracker, dates, devices, and steps separately.
The export is diagnostic evidence about synchronization operations. A bug report does not automatically attach logs, databases, or health records.
Use Reset iCloud only for a confirmed sync-state failure
Export logs first and confirm which device holds the local records you expect to keep. Reset is not a routine refresh button and should be used only when the warning is understood and support or a verified recovery procedure calls for it.
- Keep the devices that may repopulate data available, but do not make new edits during the reset.
- In CloudKit Logs, choose Reset iCloud.
- Read the complete confirmation message and cancel if local-data safety or the recovery plan is uncertain.
- Confirm the reset only when you intend to purge and rebuild BeFit Tracker’s cloud synchronization state.
- Keep the Mac online until the rebuild completes, then verify several known records on each device.
If the issue remains
Use Report a problem and include the exported log, exact record dates, device and OS versions, which device has the expected value, and the action that produced the mismatch. Do not delete BeFit Tracker as a first response; deletion can remove local records while leaving cloud records unchanged.
