Weight tracking on Mac

Record timed weigh-ins, daily steps, and BMI calculations, then use goals, history, and trends to understand progress.

The Mac Weight tracker combines timed weigh-ins, a daily step total, BMI calculations, goal context, and a year of dated history. These are separate records: correcting a BMI row does not change a weigh-in, and changing steps does not rewrite weight.

Select the date first

  1. Open Trackers → Weight.
  2. Use the date control to choose the day you want to review or update.
  3. Check History before adding an older measurement. A day can contain more than one timed weigh-in or BMI row.
Current weight, target, date, and tracker actions on Mac
The selected date determines which day’s weigh-ins, steps, and BMI records appear in the working view.

Record a weigh-in

  1. Choose Weigh In.
  2. Enter the measured weight using the unit system selected in Profile.
  3. Set the actual date and time of the measurement.
  4. Save and confirm that a new timed row appears in History.

When a day contains several weigh-ins, the latest timed record supplies the current weight for that day. The most recent saved day supplies the broader current-weight summary.

The time distinguishes multiple measurements on the same day and determines which one is latest.

Enter or correct daily steps

  1. Select the day and choose Track Steps.
  2. Add the number represented by this entry and save.
  3. Use the day’s edit control to replace the total when the displayed total itself is wrong.
  4. Use Clear only when all steps for that day should be removed.

Mac does not read Apple Health directly. Supported Health-sourced steps originate on iPhone or iPad and reach Mac through BeFit Tracker’s iCloud synchronization. Wait for sync before manually reproducing a mobile total.

Track Steps sheet on Mac
Steps are stored as a daily total. Use the replacement edit path for correction instead of repeatedly adding offsets.

Calculate and save BMI context

  1. Select the date and choose Log BMI.
  2. Confirm the height and weight used for the calculation.
  3. Save the calculated BMI with its date and time.
  4. Return to History to verify the source measurements when the result looks unexpected.
Log BMI control in the Mac Weight tracker
BMI is saved as a calculated record with the height and weight used to produce it.
BMI metric on Mac
BMI is general mathematical context, not a direct body-composition measurement or individual health assessment.

Read goals, history, and trend together

  • Current vs. Target compares the latest applicable weight with the goal saved in Profile.
  • Trend plots timed weigh-ins so one short-term fluctuation does not have to carry the whole story.
  • History lists the exact measurements behind the chart and is the correct place to make a correction.
  • Daily steps can provide activity context for the same dates, but a visual relationship does not prove cause.
Weight chart and supporting metrics on Mac
Use the chart for direction and the dated rows for evidence. Goals are personal references, not app-prescribed outcomes.
Timed weight history on Mac
History preserves each timed weigh-in so the exact record can be edited or deleted without removing the rest of the day.

Correct or delete history

  1. Select the date and locate the exact record.
  2. Edit a weigh-in to change its value, date, or time. Delete only the incorrect row when other weigh-ins exist that day.
  3. Replace or clear the daily step total as appropriate.
  4. Delete the day’s BMI entries when their source measurements were wrong, then save a corrected calculation if needed.
  5. Review the current value, target comparison, and trend after the change.
Direction matters more than one isolated point.

Weight, steps, and BMI vary and have different limitations. BeFit Tracker organizes your records and goals; it does not diagnose health, prescribe a target, or guarantee an outcome.
